I am thrilled to invite you to the 2025 El Dorado County Fair Jr. Livestock Auction on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
My name is Samantha Hlavay, and I am a 19-year-old graduate of El Dorado High School. As a proud member of the Gold Hill Toppers Market Lamb 4-H group, I have dedicated the past 14 years to 4-H, with this year marking my final Fair as a senior showman. It has been an incredible journey, and for the past 11 years, I have had the privilege of showcasing both market lambs and breeding ewes.
This year, I have been diligently preparing my ewe lamb, Cartier, for the Fair. I have participated in Fall, Winter, and Spring jackpot shows across various cities, including the Triple Crown Showdown in Lincoln, CA, and Northern Exposure in Corning, CA. The invaluable feedback from judges has helped me refine my project for this year’s El Dorado County Fair. Last year, I exhibited a ewe lamb that I bred and raised myself and had a very successful 2024 Fair. My lamb, Coco Puff, was her class winner and went on to earn the titles of Reserve Champion 4-H Market Lamb, Champion Owner-Bred Lamb, Champion County-Bred Lamb, and we won Reserve Champion Sheep Showmanship together. It was an unforgettable experience, and I am hopeful that Cartier and I can achieve similar success this year. Being involved in 4-H has taught me responsibility, animal husbandry, budgeting, self-discipline, patience, and so much more—all invaluable lessons that have prepared me for adulthood.
My time in 4-H has been an unforgettable experience, and I look forward to carrying these lessons with me into the future. I will be in the sheep barn all week during the Fair, and I would love the opportunity to meet you!
